Old Jerseys to Be Donated

Last week, the SCMHA board agreed to donate old jerseys to a local group set up by board member Kelly Chase's son Ethan and his friend Nick who both play on the Warriors Novice A team.

Last week, the SCMHA board agreed to donate  old jerseys to a local group set up by board member Kelly Chase's son Ethan and his friend Nick who both play on the Warriors Novice A team.

We are so encouraged by these kids who, at a very young age, are already aksing the adults around them to help them help others. Thanks, too, to their parents for helping set up their website:

Welcome to Kidz Can Help. We are not a charity or a foundation, we are a couple of kids who enjoy playing hockey and want to share the experience with others.

While watching Hockey Night In Canada in November of 2009 we saw a player from the Bosnian National Team on with Don Cherry and Ron Maclean talking about how hard it is to get hockey equipment in Bosnia. The player told Don and Ron that there are no stores like here in Canada to go buy equipment. The idea came up that night that we could help by providing some of our gently used equipment and get some new stuff to send over. Well the small idea of two kids and our parents helping out has grown and we now have lots of help.

For 2010 we have two goals. First is to help out some local kidz with equipment to be able to play and possibly raise enough funds to pay for a season of hockey so they can play. Secondly we are looking to get as much new and used equipment as possible and coordinate with the NHLPA and Bosnian Hockey Association sending the stuff over to Bosnia for kidz our age (8 years old) and help give them the  opportunity to play the game we love.
