Message from President of SCMHA

At the January board of directors meeting this past Wednesday, I indicated to the executive and the board of directors that I would not be seeking the position of president of St Catharines Minor Hockey for the 2010-2011 season.

This decision was made long ago. I had decided, with my family when I began, that I would only stay on as president for two years. I will remain a part of the SCMHA executive to assist with the direction that the two previous boards have taken in solving many of the problems that we all face in hockey in St Catharines and the St Catharines zone.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure as president...Really! I would not have had the opportunity to meet so many great people if my involvement in the association was limited to just one or two teams. Even with the challenging and unsavoury issues that the position brings, I am glad that I had the opportunity to serve so may great kids and great families.

Personally, I would like to thank my wife and two boys for their support and inspiration. I missed family meals and some of the boys' game and they always understood. A humble thanks goes out to all the board members, past and present, who helped me learn the ins and outs of the board workings so readily.

I encourage anyone considering becoming more involved in minor hockey to take the leap and become involved. It is such a great game to play and watch and being part of the workings of it, is just as rewarding as playing it or watching it. The SCMHA Annual General Meeting will take place on the first Wednesday of March and I strongly encourage everyone who is a member to be there and voice your concerns, show your support and get involved.

Again, from me and on behalf of MY two sons, thanks to everyone who has given time, effort and energy to the players of SCMHA and the game of hockey.
