OMHA Announces 3 Coaches Symposiums

2010-05-11

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association through the Coaches Program has taken a leadership role in the ongoing development and education of coaches.

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association through the Coaches Program has taken a leadership role in the ongoing development and education of coaches.

This spring, the OMHA will introduce three one-day Coaches Symposiums each with a specific focus: Goaltending, Developing Defencemen and Creating Offence. Each Symposium includes a Hockey Canada Specialty Clinic and will feature prominent guest speakers discussing their own area of expertise. The sessions will engage the participant through classroom and on-ice sessions.

Participation at each symposium carries a value 20 credit points which can be used towards coach certification renewal through the OMHA's Continuing Education Program [CEP] for coaches. In addition to the CEP credit points, the seminars will aim to provide coaches with specific and practical information that they can implement with their respective teams.

The Symposium schedule will see each district in the OMHA host one event.
