Wayne Gretzky Tournament 3rd Place Semi-Finalists !!
What a weekend for the Minor Atom AE Warriors at the Wayne Gretzky International Christmas tournament!! The Warriors played against some of the best teams in the province and showed how well they have developed this season!
The team battled every shift, showed great passing and team work, and showed development as they played some of their best games of the season!
Tough wins against Sarnia, Kitchener and Cambridge, left them in 3rd place at the end of the Round Robin. A great Quarterfinal win against Waterloo put us into the Semi-Final re-match with Cambridge. Up 3-1 late in the 3rd, the Warriors battled hard but gave up the lead and headed into OT. A very entertaining OT back and forth had everyone on the edge of their seats. With 17 seconds left in the period, Cambridge scored on a tough scramble in front of the net.
While everyone was disappointed to not make the final, looking back on HOW WELL we did against tough competition, you can't help but smile and be proud. :) Thank you to all families and players for their commitment and enjoyment throughout the weekend that made this such a great weekend.
Great tournament boys and we all proud of your effort and determination!! Great momentum as we get ready for the OMHA playdowns!!
