2014 Tournament of Champions
Stoney Creek Warriors Minor Bantam AA win the Tournament of Champions! Exciting games with us winning the final game 5 - 2 against Sudbury - Copper Cliff Redmen. Fantastic team play by all the boys helped to bring home the win for Stoney Creek. It was a pleasure for the fans in the stands to watch.
The warriors opened the tournament against Oakville winning by a score of 4-1. Goal scorers in the game were Donte Ferreira with 2, Chase Johnson and Nate Cusimano each had one goal each. Assists going to Sebastian Masotti, Lyle Shaw, and Ryan Ogilivie.The teams only loss came at hands of the Georgina Blaze by a score 3-1. Chase Johnson scored the only goal with another assist to Lyall Shaw. Game 3 saw the team play the Sudbury Copper-Cliff Redman and come out victorious by a score of 3-1. Point getters in this game were Hunter Cooper scoring her second goal of the season.Seth Coulter and Jordan Murphy scored one each. Assists went to Michael Lanza with two, and Johnson and Cusimano with one each.
The Semi Finals saw the warriors playing Oakville for the second time. Griffin Jacobson found his groove. It then became the Lyall Shaw show with Lyall scoring a Hat trick other goal scorers were lanza,Johnson Domenic Rappazzo, and Murphy. Assists went to Ferreira,and Lanza with a pair. The high point of this game was the team only had 11 skaters and battled back down 2-0 to win 7-2..
The Final was against sudbury. With both teams coming in on big wins. The game was action packed.The Warriors came out strong opening up a 4 goal lead after two periods. Sudbury made it a game in the second but SC was determined to win this championship and scored an insurance goal late in the third to seal it.
Goal scorers were Cusimano with 2, Shaw, Murphy and Rapazzo with assists going to Lanza, Murphy, and Anthony Moretuzzo.
The Parents and Coaches are proud of the style of play shown all weekend, Strong defense and good goaltending from Antonucci and Jacobson.
