City of Hamilton Red Zone
Submitted By administration on Tuesday, November 17, 2020
To the participants of Stoney Creek
Minor Hockey Association
I'm sure you're all aware that the City of Hamilton has been moved into the Provincial RED ZONE.
This will have an impact on the whole Association but as we work around this logistically we wanted to share what we know and how things will look while we are in the Control zone.
We apologize for any disruption in programming that this may cause but please understand and respect that this is beyond anyone's control at SCMHA. Our objective is still to provide an opportunity for our players to train on the ice and keeping everyone safe as our primary focus. Every effort has been made to follow every and all protocols passed down from the various levels of governing bodies.
Effective Monday all SCMHA gameplay has been stopped and removed from the schedules.
This will remain in effect until such time the RED ZONE is lifted from the City of Hamilton OR further restrictions are put in place. During this time, we will adhere to any further requirements that may be passed down from PHU, COH, OMHA and OHF. We understand there is still a lot of discussions surrounding the amount of individuals that are permitted on the ice surface. We will follow the guidelines put forth by City Of Hamilton until told otherwise.
We would like to thank all of our City of Hamilton representatives that have been working diligently to provide insight and information to the various programs within the area.
Teams of 10 will remain in tact for now, these are a summary of the most important changes that you need to be aware of.
-Only 25 individuals on the ice surface at single pad facilities (players and coaches)
-Only 12 individuals on the ice surface at multi pad facilities (players and coaches)
-U7/U8 will move to a single pad facility. Due to this change we cannot guarantee the days will remain the same. Parents will now need to watch the schedule more then ever.
-No games/scrimmage or team practices
-Individual "distanced" training sessions only
-No spectators during this time
-Players need to arrive dressed
-RED ZONE Until Dec 14 - minimum
-We will review at the end of December for possible return to gameplay in Jan
-Contact screening to include parent/guardian where applicable
-2 screenings - this is mandatory (1) online form (2) coaches fill out at the rink
-We will continue to run ice times as outlined until Dec 1 and will close/modify the divisions at that point if need be based on demand. This will give participants an opportunity to remove themselves from the program should they choose.
-All outside development programs will remain unchanged as scheduled
We will ask individuals to let us know what their intentions will be by Nov 25. This will allow us to determine if we can continue and assess our ongoing requirements.
Schedules are being updated as we speak and we need everyone to be checking the website for updates.
